SPICE to Host Fifth Annual Lubbock Open

Texas Tech University, the Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence (SPICE), the Susan Polgar Foundation and the Knight Raiders will host the fifth annual Lubbock Open, a five-round Swiss system tournament, open to all ages.

Texas Tech University, the Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence (SPICE), the Susan Polgar Foundation and the Knight Raiders will host the fifth annual Lubbock Open, a five-round Swiss system tournament, open to all ages. This event is a U.S. Chess Federation-rated individual tournament.

All events will be held Saturday (Jan. 28) at the Lubbock Science Spectrum (2579 S. Loop 289). A United States Chess Federation (USCF) membership is required and can be obtained online at www.uschess.org or on site.

On-site registration and check-in will be held from 9 to 10:15 a.m. All pre-registered players must check in by 10:15 a.m.

Entry fees are $15 before Jan. 20, $20 before Jan. 27 and $25 on site.
