In honor of Veterans Day 2011, two Texas Tech student veterans will lead this week’s Raider Walk, which begins at 8:30 a.m (Nov. 12) at Dan Law Field and ends at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Ryan Van Dusen, assistant director of the Military and Veterans Program, said Christopher Beck and Todd Truesdell are excellent examples of the dedication student veterans posses in balancing their academics and serving the community and country.

Truesdell, a former U.S. Marine and student in the College of Mass Communications, said he feels blessed to attend Texas Tech.

“As for this weekend,” Truesdell said, “I am honored beyond words with the invitation to lead my fellow Red Raiders with Coach Tuberville in the Raider Walk on this very special Veterans Day, to honor all who have served.”

Beck, who served in the U.S. Army in Iraq as well as the U.S. Army National Guard, said it is truly an honor to be leading Raider Walk and representing fellow Texas Tech veterans.

“For them to have the opportunity to lead the team and participate in this great tradition is an example of how dedicated the Texas Tech family is to the success of our student veterans,” Van Dusen said.
