U.S. boxing history reveals that it is a sport that has traditionally been the "bluest" of blue-collar athletic endeavors.
Jorge Iber is a professor in the department of history and associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University, with a specialization in the historical role of Latino/a participation in U.S.sports. He is the co-author of "Latinos in U.S. Sport: A History of Isolation, Cultural Identity, and Acceptance."
