HOUSTON - High school students are invited to register for the Math-Ready Summer Camp hosted by San Jacinto College (SJC) South, NASA - Johnson Space Center, and Texas Tech University.
The camp focuses on preparing high school students for the next school year by helping them brush up on their math skills, while at the same time introducing them to different career opportunities that involve math skills. The first camp held last year emphasized aerospace science and engineering careers. This year’s camp will expand the focus to include renewable energy solutions.
Students will have an opportunity to interact with Texas Tech and SJC faculty members leading camp courses, giving them a first-hand look at how math is used in various career fields. Fieldtrips and tours of designated facilities that highlight industry applications of math are also scheduled.
The Math-Ready Summer Camp runs August 8 – 12 at San Jacinto College South, located at 13735 Beamer Road in Houston. Partial camp scholarships are still available. For more information, visit www.aerospace-academy.org.
