Since Alex Brown, 17, was killed in motor vehicle accident more than a year ago, her parents have been on a mission to educate the public - particularly young people like her - about the dangers of texting while driving.
The Legislature is finding no opposition from cell phone companies. Telecommunications giant AT&T supports bans on texting while driving. In November, the Dallas-based company partnered with Texas Tech University to urge all students and their parents not to text while driving.
