Texas Tech’s Up ‘til Dawn program is hosting a letter-writing event from 11a.m.-11p.m. Wed. (Nov. 10) in the Student Union Red Raider Ballroom to raise awareness and funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Participants will address letters to their family and friends to request monetary support. At 6 p.m., attendants can enjoy entertainment featuring music by Haden Bruchard, raffles, food and free t-shirts. The event will also feature a presentation from a current St. Jude patient.
“After visiting St. Jude headquarters this summer in Memphis, Tenn., I realized more than ever how important it is to unite together as a university and support the hospital,” said Up ‘til Dawn Co-Director Racheal Harris.
Harris said the Up ‘til Dawn committee doubled its fundraising goal from last year and hopes to raise $100,000.
“Texas Tech is one of the largest campuses in the nation that participates in Up ‘til Dawn,” she said. “That alone gives us huge fundraising power and giving potential.”
This is Texas Tech’s sixth year to participate in Up ‘til Dawn. To become a fan or find more information visit http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Up-til-Dawn-Texas-Tech-University/105091242878428?v=info.
