Former Tech star wins second spot at Calgary

For Lindsay Sears, the Calgary Stampede is a cash cow.

Two years ago, Sears, a former Texas Tech star who has homes in Nanton, Alberta, and the West Texas community of Ropesville, earned the rodeo’s coveted $100,000 barrel racing winner’s prize.

During the past weekend, Sears pocketed $36,000 (Canadian) after coming in second at Calgary’s 98th annual rodeo.

“It’s been a good rodeo,” Sears said. “Anytime you can leave here with thirty-something thousand dollars, you have to be happy.”
