Tech grad, Alon CEO Morris touts benefits of nuclear energy

Licensing more nuclear power plants would be a quick way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the United States without reducing the nation's quality of life, the head of Alon USA told a group of Lubbock business leaders Thursday.

The nation would experience an immediate decrease in emissions related to greenhouse gases if nuclear plants, which now generate about 20 percent of U.S. electrical consumption, increased their share to 75 percent, said Texas Tech alum Jeff D. Morris, Alon's president and chief executive officer during the Chief Executives' Roundtable luncheon, sponsored by the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech.
