Today’s depositions confirmed the well-established facts of this case.
Misleading statements by Mike Leach and his attorneys are intended to sway public opinion. Fortunately, the court of law deals with facts and not rumor and innuendo.
There was no business relationship between Mr. James and either the Chancellor or any member of the Board of Regents.
The allegations by Mike Leach and his attorneys that Mr. James influenced the decision to terminate Mr. Leach are without merit.
All decisions made by Texas Tech University were a result of facts gathered during an investigation conducted by the university along with thorough deliberation by its leadership.
Craig and Marilyn James did what any concerned parents would have done and brought the situation to the attention of the administration in a private manner.
Mike Leach’s irresponsible behavior along with his refusal to attempt to resolve the situation and his continued insubordination resulted in his dismissal.
The bottom line is this: Mike Leach believed he was not accountable to anyone which ultimately led to his downfall.
To clarify another misleading statement made by Leach’s attorneys yesterday (March 12) saying that Chancellor Hance told Coach Leach that his post-game speech at the Baylor game was the best he had ever heard. That is not true. Kent Hance was in the locker room but he told Coach Leach that his delivery was inappropriate.
