The Texas wine industry will soon see a new crop of grape growers. The first class of 16 graduates of the two-year Certificate Program in Viticulture through Texas Tech University and Texas AgriLife Extension were recognized yesterday at Flat Creek Estate Vineyards near Marble Falls.
“A lot of these students came into the program planning to put in their own vineyard. And almost all of them without any experience in growing grapes or even farming in general,” says director Ed Hellman. “They're ready to do it.”
