The Texas Tech University meat judging team received first place on Feb. 7 at the Southwestern Livestock Show in Fort Worth. This is the second win for the team this year.
The team took a 60-point lead, posting a score of more than 4,000 points. The team finished first in beef grading, lamb judging, overall beef, pork judging, specifications and reasons divisions.
The team has now won 13 of the past 14 national meat judging competitions, said Mark Miller, professor and San Antonio Livestock Show distinguished chair in Meat Science.
