Veterans enrollment surged 37 percent at Texas Tech this fall as students took advantage of military benefits and nearby services.

Tech added staff to handle around 120 new veterans signed up for fall classes, said Debra Crosby, assistant registrar and veteran coordinator at Tech. The university now has 446 former servicemen and servicewomen enrolled.
