The end of October holds more than one noteworthy day of significance. Saturday at midnight marks the beginning of the Mexican holiday El Dia de los Muertos, and the local festivities start Friday.

"El Dia de los Muertos [Day of the Dead]" said Jane Bell, director of Texas Tech's International Cultural Center, "is an opportunity to remember and pay tribute to our deceased loved ones."
