Texas Tech University professor Anisa Zvonkovic, chairwoman of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, was chosen to serve as a member of the Center for Scientific Review’s Community Influences on Health Behavior Study until June 30, 2011.
Zvonkovic said she has attended several meetings on a temporary member basis to see the amount of work and commitment the study will require.
“It does require a lot of time and work,” Zvonkovic said. “But I’ve started reviewing proposals, and I think I can handle it.”
To be placed on a review group, the National Institute of Health evaluates prospective members based on their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific field as evidence of the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors, according to a Tech news release.
