Keep Rowlett Beautiful has awarded two Paul Brunelle Memorial Scholarships to Rowlett residents.
KRB presented a scholarship to Charles Adam Brinkley, who attended Garland High School. He will attend Stephen F. Austin State University to earn a degree in forestry, focusing on wild life management. His ultimate goal is to work in the National or State Park Service.
Brinkley became a Cub Scout in first grade and continued in Boy Scouts throughout the years to obtain the rank of Eagle Scout in 2008. He has also been active in the Rowlett Hockey Association for several years.
Steven Cannon received an award in 2008 and this year has been honored with a second scholarship to support his continued education at Texas Tech University. Cannon reports from Lubbock that he is very involved in his fraternity, works on service projects such as Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, and Adopt-a-Highway. He also has part-time jobs and has managed to earn 43 hours of course work, maintaining a 3.75 GPA. Cannon plans to become an architect focusing on environmental buildings.
