Vietnamese film crew gathers info from local memorial

A Vietnamese film crew is spending a week in Lubbock - an unlikely place to learn about a pivotal event that happened in their homeland half a world away.

A delegation of three reporters with Vietnam's largest newspaper, Toui Tre in Ho Chi Minh City, is visiting Texas Tech's Vietnam Center and Archive. They're gathering documents and information for a documentary about the 1968 Tet Offensive during the Vietnam War. The military campaign led by VietCong and North Vietnamese governments began Jan. 30, 1968, and took its name from the Vietnamese holiday celebrating the first day of the lunar new year.
