The Jerry Gray Foundation offers hope, vision and opportunities to young people living in underserved neighborhoods and communities.
Texas Tech University and the Jerry Gray Foundation announce the Second Annual Jerry Gray Golf Tournament, June 27 at Meadowbrook Golf Course. The tournament raises scholarship funds for underrepresented high school graduates to pursue a college education.
Jerry Gray, an Estacado High School alumnus and four time NFL Pro-Bowler, currently is the secondary coach for the Washington Redskins.
The partnership between the Jerry Gray Foundation and Texas Tech University-Division of Institutional Diversity began in 2007 and allows Texas Tech to match corporate contributions which support Estacado High School graduates planning to attend the university.
On June 26, Gray will host an auction and barbecue dinner in the Estacado High School cafeteria. The event is open to the public and costs $10 for adults and $2 for children. Some of the auction items include signed jerseys by Troy Aikman and Reggie Bush and an autographed Pro Football Hall of Fame helmet.
The Division of Institutional Diversity handles the scholarships and scholarship recipients are required to be members of the Mentor Tech program. Mentor Tech focuses on enhancing the quality of the college experience of students from underrepresented populations. Students are paired with mentors according to their academic, professional, social and cultural interests, which increases the student’s chance of success at Texas Tech.
