Research finds how tornadoes are formed

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Science Foundation are funding the $10 million research project, Vortex 2. Teams from 13 agencies and universities, including Texas Tech, are criss-crossing the central plains looking for tornadoes through April 13 . They are looking to answer: why do some storms form tornadoes and others do not?
