New Administrators Hired In College of Outreach and Distance Education

New TTUISD high school principal and college student services director named.

The Texas Tech University College of Outreach and Distance Education announces the hiring of two new administrators. Ethel Russell has been named high school principal of the Texas Tech Independent School District (TTUISD). Cary Sallee has been named the director of student services for the college. Both began their duties in April. Russell has been a TTUISD counselor since December 2007. She came to Texas Tech from San Angelo where she had served as an assistant principal and interim principal. She received her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and her master’s from Angelo State University. Sallee comes to TTUISD from the AT&T call center, where he was a manager for nine years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech. A part of the College of Outreach and Distance Education TTUISD was established by the State Board of Education in 1993. It is an accredited elementary, middle and high school diploma program that operates entirely at a distance. In 2007-08 TTUISD averaged 1,419 full-time students throughout the year. A total of 1,536 students have graduated from the program as of this month. The Student Services unit within the College of Outreach and Distance Education provides support services for K-12 and college non-semester-based, independent study distance students.
