Texas Tech professor wins 2009 Everett Southwest Literary Award

The University of Central Oklahoma’s Department of English and College of Liberal Arts have named William Wenthe as the winner of the 2009 Everett Southwest Literary Award in Poetry.
Wenthe, who submitted a collection of poems titled “Words Before Dawn” in the competition, will receive a $5000 cash award as the winner.
“This collection has been a long time coming, and I’m thrilled to have it recognized by this award,” said Wenthe, who teaches creative writing and modern poetry at Texas Tech University.
