Green Movement: Faith in the power to save planet

The arrival of spring has the faith-based green movement stirring again in Omaha.

A conference Sunday at Creighton University will bring together experts from several faith traditions along with several local groups involved in efforts from recycling to preserving the prairie. The conference, Faith and the Environment, aims to get people of different faiths together to explore ideas about living green.

The speakers are: Terry Wimberley, professor of ecological studies at Florida Gulf Coast University; Sandra Lubarsky, director of the Master of Arts in Sustainable Communities Program at Northern Arizona University; Safei-Eldin Hamed, a Texas Tech University scholar on sustainable development; and Rudi Mitchell, who teaches Native American Studies at Creighton
