Tori Whatley to Represent South Carolina in National Chess Tournament

The annual Susan Polgar National Invitational for Girls is an esteemed nationwide event that showcases the top young female talent in the world of chess. The tournament was created, and continues to be sponsored, by Susan Polgar, the first woman to earn the title of International Grandmaster in regular competition. The Susan Polgar Foundation gives more opportunities to top young female chess players in the United States. The event is a culmination of a series of regional, state and nationwide qualifying events over a period of 12 months that involves over 3,000 young girls vying to represent their respective states.

The event will be held July 27th-August 1st at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
