TEXAS TECH POLICE ANNOUNCE NEW ASSISTANT CHIEF

LUBBOCK – Major Michael Bland has been hired as the new assistant chief of police
of the Texas Tech Police Department.
Chief Ron Seacrist said Bland will assume his new duties on Monday (Aug. 8) as operations
Bland comes to Texas Tech from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, where
he was captain of police. He is a retired major in the Army Reserves and has worked
in campus law enforcement for more than 15 years.
"We are pleased that Michael will be joining us here at Texas Tech," said Seacrist.
"He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him, and we are looking forward
to working with him."
