LUBBOCK – The Texas Tech University Meat Science Academic Quiz Bowl Team was named
the 2005 National Champion Team at the 51st International Congress of Meat Science
and Technology conference, held from August 7-12 in Baltimore, MD.
The event, hosted by the American Meat Science Association, also serves as the venue
for the 2005 Reciprocal Meats Conference and features 300 research posters in the
world’s largest gathering of meat scientists.
The Texas Tech team included senior Animal Science majors Jesse Collins, Julie Weathers
and Jessica Clay. Seventeen teams competed in the event. Texas Tech defeated the Texas
A&M University team in the final competition.
