Two Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business students each received a $10,000 scholarship from the Texas Business Hall of Fame. Joseph Kmetz, a senior energy commerce major from Houston, and Jacob Fedosky, a senior management information systems major from Rowlett, are two of 31 students who attend Texas colleges and universities, and who received the “Future Business Legends” award.
Kmetz and Fedosky were chosen because of their exceptional leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirit. The scholarship money is to be used by recipients to assist with their pursuit of higher education or an entrepreneurial venture they desire to tackle. To this date the Texas Business Hall of Fame has awarded $3 million in scholarships to students.
The organization considers the 31 scholarship recipients to be the best business students in the state. These students have various interests and have creative ideas to overhaul industries and reimagine business practices.
Evan Melrose, vice president for scholarships and endowment for the Texas Business Hall of Fame, believes the scholarship recipients have shown leadership in both their communities and entrepreneurial endeavors.
“I’m confident the recipients will make a meaningful impact on Texas and carry on the entrepreneurial legacy set by our inducted honorees,” he said.
The scholarship recipients will be recognized Nov. 5 at the Texas Business Hall of Fame’s luncheon ceremony and later that evening at the annual induction dinner at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas.
