Website Launched to Aid Texas Tech University President Search

The site was unveiled Sept. 18 to attract and identify top candidates for the position.

Officials at the Texas Tech University System and members of the search committee for the next president of Texas Tech University unveiled today (Sept. 18) a new website to attract and identify top candidates for the position.

The new website, www.texastech.edu/ttupresidentsearch, has been launched to provide information about the position and seek nominations from the public.

Jerry Turner, chairman of the presidential search committee, said the site will be used to promote the search and garner top candidates.

“To find the best of the best, we must have a large pool of strong candidates,” Turner said. “We hope the site will encourage nominations from the public and help to ensure the search committee casts a wide net in its efforts to identify candidates for the next president.”

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. However, applications must be submitted by Nov. 21 to assure full consideration by the search committee.

The website also includes a position description, news releases on activities related to the search, names of members of the search committee and advisory council, contact information for the search consultant, Robert Lawless, and information about Texas Tech.

The new president at Texas Tech University will succeed Guy Bailey, who was recently named president of the University of Alabama. Lawrence Schovanec, who previously served as dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, was recently named interim president by the chancellor and will assume the duties of president until a replacement is named.
