Rob Weiner, pop culture librarian at Texas Tech University and instructor of a full-blown superhero academic course, said the past decade of superhero blockbusters is dependent on a couple of factors — technological advances being the obvious one. But more importantly, screenwriters finally started giving these masked and caped avengers intriguing dramas to act out.
