Raider Red: Larger than Life in Times Square

Texas Tech Libraries contest-winning video will be featured all week long.

Written by Karin Slyker

The video won the Thomson Reuters’ Focused on Your Library Contest in December.

Texas Tech University Libraries will be profiled during National Library Week (April 10-16) on the Thomson Reuters building in Times Square. Its video won the company’s Focus on Your Library Contest in December.

Eight libraries nationwide were selected as semifinalists in the contest based on essays submitted. Online voting determined the winning essay. The Texas Tech Libraries essay, written by Kaley Daniel and Julie Barnett, focused on exemplary services provided to students, faculty and staff, such as Roving Reference, one of three alternating librarians from the libraries who, laptop in tow, takes the Library to the students – wherever they are across campus.

The Lubbock Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications also will recognize the libraries for the honor with a Headliner Award during the annual AWC Celebrity Luncheon April 19.
