The Feed Your Body and Soul Week committee will be sponsoring activities to promote a healthy body image.
Feed Your Body and Soul Week, Feb. 20-26, invites the Texas Tech community to participate in a multitude of activities to heighten awareness of thoughts, feelings and behaviors related to body image, in conjunction with National Eating Disorders Awareness Week.
The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) reports as many as 10 million females and 1 million males in the United States struggle with an eating disorder. NEDA Week activities are designed to combat the pressures, attitudes and behaviors that can contribute to eating disorders.
The Feed Your Body and Soul Week committee will be sponsoring activities to promote a healthy body image such as;
- Zumba and belly dancing classes
- The movie, Good Hair
- Feed Your Body and Soul Fair
- Donate Your Skinny Clothes project
The committee invites women in the Texas Tech community to participate in free introductory workout classes that are fun and encourage movement and appreciation of the body. Zumba class will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Matador Room of the Student Union Building. Belly dancing will be held at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in room 114 of the Student Recreation Center.
