Texas Tech will host the 52nd annual Carol of Lights celebration “Lighting The New Era” at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3. The outdoor ceremony will begin with carillon and will be followed by the official ceremony at 7 p.m. in the Science Quad and Memorial Circle.
The Residence Halls Association (RHA) will sponsor the event. More than 25,000 red, white and orange lights will illuminate the Texas Tech campus at the end of the ceremony. Past ceremonies have drawn about 20,000 students, faculty, staff and local residents.
Guests attending the Carol of Lights are encouraged to arrive early. Parking will be available to the public in the North Commuter parking lot near Jones AT&T Stadium. Campus streets in the vicinity of Memorial Circle will close at 5:30 p.m. and remain closed until the completion of the event.
Immediately following the Carol of Lights ceremony, the Texas Tech School of Music will hold their annual Carols Concert in the Hemmle Recital Hall.
The RHA serves as the voice for students living on campus, and is the second-largest student organization at Texas Tech. Their main goals are to promote a high quality of leadership in a democratic form of student government, and to provide the best possible living and learning experience for students living in the residence halls. The RHA provides many programs and activities to enhance the living environment in the residence halls and to encourage the exchange of ideas.

Good to see it has been moved back to Friday. RHA had nothing to do with the date change I have heard. It was the administration valuing football in 2008 more than traditions. I knew we will lose to Oklahoma in 2008. Enjoy the Carol of LIghts.
