School Construction News – Penn State University – University Park won a Grand Award, the highest award in the University College Grounds category. Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, Texas Woman’s University, the University of Alberta in Canada and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas won Honor Awards in the same category. Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, Texas Tech University’s Arbor Day annual event in Lubbock and the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania earned Merit Awards in the category.

Go San Angelo – Another book that has some interesting Civil War stories is from Texas Tech University Press titled “The Accidental Historian,” by Monte Akers, an Austin lawyer who has had a romance with history most of his life. He and his wife, Patty, also an attorney, got involved in Civil War re-enactments, and both appeared in major movie productions about the war years, including the acclaimed “Gettysburg.”

Abilene Reporter News – As chancellor, I welcome the role CPRIT has assigned to our public universities in the battle against cancer. We are grateful Texas Tech University (TTU) and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) have collectively received nearly $5 million in CPRIT research awards. Now in the second year of funding, CPRIT expects to award an additional $216 million in research and prevention grants, and we expect our institutions to compete effectively for a share of this funding as well.

The Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, International at Texas Tech University ranked third for Don Hutson Outstanding Chapter Award at the 2010 National Conference and Mock Trial Competition in Washington, D.C.
