The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) announces the launch of new communications efforts on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, in order to build and better connect with the research community.

“Social media is an excellent way to promote, recruit and engage our undergraduate and graduate researchers, faculty and prospective students as well as our external partners,” said Taylor Eighmy, vice president for research. “We hope by participating in social media efforts, we will be able to open the communication lines within the research community and bring its members closer together.”

The Texas Tech research page features information on events related to university research and links to the latest stories and developments, as well as research photos and videos. With a more community-oriented structure, Facebook is a way to engage both internal and external audiences and inform them of the latest developments in research.

Perhaps you are more of a fan and like to stay abreast of the latest trending topics in 140 characters or less. The TTU research Twitter account is another way for researchers to stay informed and connected.

In a joint effort with the Office of the Provost, the OVPR has created a YouTube channel specifically for academic- and research-related videos. This channel includes integrated scholar interviews, research videos and academic speeches and announcements, as well as videos for our partners through the Office of Technology Commercialization.

And if you are still hungry for more, you can always browse through research photos on the Texas Tech University Flickr account, watch videos and listen to podcasts on iTunes U, and scroll through research news with the TTUmobile app.
