Texas Tech ranked 46th of 100 four-year institutions.
Forbes Magazine named Texas Tech one of the top 50 colleges in its list of America’s Best College Buys.
The financial news and analysis magazine’s second annual list ranked schools that provided the best quality of education for tuition dollars spent. Texas Tech ranked 46th of 100 four-year institutions.
“As tuition costs continue to rise around the country, Texas Tech has worked to provide a high-quality educational experience while reining in our costs through efficient allocation of our resources,” said President Guy Bailey. “This ranking affirms that we have managed to walk the fine line of acting as responsible financial stewards while at the same time preparing our students for their futures.”
To produce the ranking, Forbes divided each school’s overall quality score by its average sticker price tuition and fees for 2008. All schools with an actual four-year graduation rate lower than 20 percent were excluded from the best value ranking.

That is a great list and very important to many people. I work with Architects and Engineers all over the DFW area. They tell me they really like hiring Tech grads because “they are ready to go to work”.
