Advisers once again open doors to interns

Rodeo: Bareback rider Gray cashes big check in Houston rodeo

Ryan Gray just keeps on spurring for the bigger money.

Last month, the former Texas Tech star pocketed $55,350 after clinching the bareback riding title at RodeoHouston.

This month, Gray, who has residences in Cheney, Wash., and Petersburg, raked in $19,978 after winning the bareback riding at the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo in Pocatello, Idaho.

Colleges map out route to top tier

Those arguments worked last year, as the Legislature approved a plan to elevate one or more of the state’s seven emerging research universities. In November, voters authorized a new National Research University Fund worth $500 million, although it could grow before the schools are allowed to tap it.

In addition to UH and UT-El Paso, eligible schools include Texas Tech University, the University of North Texas, UT-Arlington, UT-Dallas and UT-San Antonio.

Americans Turn to Al-Jazeera for Raw Images of War, Study FInds

Fahmy, along with researcher Thomas Johnson of Texas Tech University, conducted two online surveys of Al-Jazeera Web users during November and December 2004. They found that most of those who use the Al-Jazeera English-language website are from the U.S., Canada, the U.K and Australia. Respondents indicated that they appreciate the graphic pictures of war they find on the site that they don’t see in mainstream media. As one user explained:
