The director of The Institute of Environmental and Human Health (TIEHH) at Texas Tech University has been chosen to serve on the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Committee for the 2010 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards.

The awards are coordinated by the governor’s office and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Ron Kendall will serve on the selection committee, which is charged to review the top finalists in 11 categories.

“The opportunity to serve on the governor’s blue ribbon committee for selection of the highest environmental award in the state of Texas is a great honor, particularly from the perspective of recognition of Texas Tech’s environmental programs,” Kendall said.

Last May, TIEHH was selected to receive the 2009 Texas Environmental Excellence Award in the area of education.
