Lubbock Avalanche-Journal - A Clash of Viewpoints: News of former attorney general's new position stirs world's attention, comments
About 240 online stories, more than 60 posts on The Avalanche-Journal’s Web site, and countless Twitters, blogs and Facebook posts as of Thursday: News that Alberto Gonzales will join the Texas Tech faculty this fall has spread from coast-to-coast.
Acknowledging that adding the controversial former attorney general to Tech’s payroll was a polarizing move, Chancellor Kent Hance said he still believes it was a good decision.
And, while people on and off campus expressed their opinions on the hire, Gonzales said Thursday he was “not aware” of any comments related to his appointment.
Hance made it official that Gonzales – who resigned as attorney general in 2007 – would join Tech as a visiting professor and recruiter of minority students at a Tuesday news conference.
