Two-time Texas Tech national track champion Leigh Daniel and her fiancé, Nick Cordes, need the help of voters one more time to win a live July 15 wedding on the TODAY Show.
The cross-country couple passed the second round of voting for TODAY Throws a Wedding, meaning they have only to survive one more round of voting.
However, the tally begins again as the votes that propelled them through the first two rounds no longer count. Viewers vote each week for the couple of their choice, and only 88 votes separated the 3rd and 4th place couples during the first round of voting.
Supporters have until 10:59 p.m. CST Friday, June 26 to cast their vote:
- Visit the TODAY Show Web site
- Or, text message “4” to phone number 46833
Daniel ran for Texas Tech from 1998-2001, establishing her place as one of the nation’s top distance runners. In 1999, she set numerous records on her way to winning the women’s 5,000 meters in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, was an NCAA outdoor national champion in 10,000 meters, and won a gold medal in the 10,000 meters at the World University Games.
Daniel majored in human development while at Texas Tech. She now is the head women’s cross country coach at Ashland University. Cordes is Ashland’s men’s cross country coach.
