Dallas Morning News - Irving boy asks Texas Legislature to name technosaurus as new state dinosaur

Like many kids, 10-year-old Shashwath Murthy of Irving got hooked on dinosaurs the first time he saw Jurrasic Park. Shashwath argued that a much smaller 4-foot reptile named after Texas Tech University is a better choice. Shashwath testified to a House committee to think about his pick’s age – it is more than 100 million years older than paluxysaurus – and ties to Texas Tech. “We all agree that the Texas state dinosaur has to change.
