Will Texas Tech University finally get tier one status? The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Tom Martin and other civic and business leaders certainly hope so as well. “For us, tier one for Texas Tech is our No. 1 issue,” said Norma Ritz Johnson, vice president of government affairs at the Lubbock Chamber. “We’ve got a few other legislative priorities like downtown tax increment funding, water, transportation issues and health care, but Tech tops our list.”
