Construction Alters Traffic Around Texas Tech’s Memorial Circle

Work on utility tunnel closes part of Memorial Circle.

Written by Sally Logue Post

Construction on the east side of Texas Tech University’s Memorial Circle will alter traffic patterns for several months.

Construction begins the week of Dec. 8 to replace a utility tunnel that runs between the Administration Building and Holden Hall.

The east side of the circle will be closed at Akron Avenue. The west side of the circle will carry two-way traffic to provide access to the Science Quadrangle and the Engineering Key.

Signage will guide vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians using the area.

Construction is expected to take about nine months.
